BURLINGTON, Vt.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The November issue of InStyle magazine features exciting highlights of Sheryl Crow’s July eco-baby shower for her son Wyatt, but for expanded, exclusive coverage of the celebration and details on how to throw a green gala of their own, curious families and fans are encouraged to visit www.weegeneration.com. Dozens of never-before-seen, behind-the-scenes photos of the occasion and an interview with party planner Traci Phillips are now available for viewing online and provide details surrounding the star-studded, eco-conscious affair.

Phillips, whose client history includes recording artists Sara Evans and Carrie Underwood, speaks about the details of planning Ms. Crow’s eco-shower in an exclusive video interview available on www.weegeneration.com or http://www.businesswire.com/cgi-bin/mmg.cgi?eid=5530775. “There is nothing more important to a parent than keeping their baby healthy and happy,” said Christopher Gavigan, executive director of Healthy Child Healthy World, a founding partner of Wee Generation. “We cannot think of a better way to welcome and celebrate the life of a new child than with an eco-friendly baby shower. With the easy-to-follow tips and guidance provided by Wee Generation, expectant parents can feel supported and empowered to build a healthier future for all children.”

Along with the opportunity to view exclusive celebrity content and learn how to produce their own green events, consumers have until Nov. 30, 2007, to enter the Wee Generation sweepstakes, featuring a grand prize Green Nursery Makeover and a chance to “pay it forward” by donating a second makeover to a favorite local children’s organization.

In addition to educating parents, the Wee Generation team is also developing the world’s first Cradle to Cradle certified baby bag. Gotcha!

[LYRICS] SHINE OVER BABYLON

I walked the heat of seven hills
Endless talk of losing wills
Great highways in a constant melt
Men and women and children all have overbuilt

Buying bread and paying for none
Creatures of a waning sun
Teacher's hands are overrun
Clowns and gypsies have all but gone

You make me wanna
Shine over Babylon
You make me wanna
Shine over Babylon

Freedoms etched on Sacred pillars
Hollow stones of mindless filler
Can lead to madman oil drillers
Won't be long before we all are killers

Little boy lost way up the mountains
Cities drowning under boiling fountains
I dreamed of chilly, sunlit days
I was trembling in a golden haze

You make me wanna
Shine over Babylon
You make me wanna
Shine over Babylon

Celebrate the golden cow
Praise the bloated bank account
If there's a god where is he now
The precipice is slipping further out

Sanskrit message from the mounts
Leave your possession, hope abounds
There's nothing here for you to cry about
We're all just followers from here on out

I take the stage, I walk the planks
I sing these songs with little thanks
I wait for shouts from crazy cranks
I stand amidst the brown shirt ranks

I found my way to alexandria
Where gurus bubble up on gangea
Scavengers, they run up and hand ya
All the junk that should have damned ya

You make me wanna
Shine over Babylon
You make me wanna
Shine over Babylon

If everything in life was free
You'd float in your own reverie
The things that you could never see
seal the gap between you and me

You make me wanna
Shine over Babylon
You make me wanna
Shine over Babylon

[NEWS] NEW SINGLE OUT OCTOBER 30

Hit it! Great news guys!

"Shine Over Babylon", the first single from the "Detours" album will be released on Amazon Music Store on Tuesday October 30. Meanwhile, it has been released to radio stations, mostly Triple-A (a good sign, IMO).

Here's a 30 second preview (courtesy of Amazon):

Man, that's pretty good. Too short, but good.

I can't wait to listen to full-length version, cuz.... I HATE THESE HALF-MINUTE CLIPS! Lol. It's frustrating as, uhm, a coitus interruptus. Explicit enough? ;-))

Oh, anyway, her voice is honey-coated barbed wire, mmhh. Just love it.

Sheryl has also written a message about the forthcoming album:

Hey everybody! I am super-excited to tell all you guys that today, I have a new song hitting the airwaves. It's called "Shine Over Babylon" and it is the first song sneaking its way out from my new cd called "Detours." (I think you will be able to download on I-Tunes!)

I just completed "Detours" a couple of weeks ago and can't wait for you guys to hear it. It was really a fun record to make. I worked with my first producer, Bill Bottrell, and we had a wonderful time together on this record. We recorded all the tracks over a period of about 40 days at my farm in Nashville, which we jokingly called "the hit farm."

We are releasing 14 or 15 of the 24 songs we recorded. The songs are very inspired by the last three years of events in my life. And, having Wyatt in the studio really opened my heart (he shows up on "Lullaby for Wyatt" which will be featured in the movie, Grace Is Gone coming out soon), and made me feel fearless when writing about everything I've been through as well as what we are all experiencing sociopolitically in this country right now.

I don't believe anyone would argue that these are complicated and troubling times we are navigating through. At any given moment, I find myself in a real panic about the future of humanity. "Shine Over Babylon" is an every way a desparate cry for understanding. Perhaps it is even a battle song in the face of fear.

I hope you like it. Stay tuned for more music from Detours.

Sheryl

[NEWS] SHERYL CROW PICKS WESTERN GLOVE

Winnipeg company to maker singer's jeans

Mon Oct 22 2007

By Martin Cash

WINNIPEG'S Western Glove Works is adding another celebrity to its client list. The jeans maker has teamed up with singer Sheryl Crow to make a line of affordable blue jeans for her newly-formed brand Bootheel Trading Co.

"We're honoured to be working with her," said Michael Silver, a partner in Western Glove and the president of Silver Jeans and 1921.

"When we met her she was such an easygoing, very real person. Her vast accomplishments are rooted in the same place from which we create jeans -- honesty, quality and good old-fashioned hard work."

Last year, Western Glove joined forces with Spice Girl Victoria Beckham and is producing the celebrity's high end line of jeans, dVb.

In addition to its own popular brands such as Silver Jeans and 1921, Western Glove Works makes JAG brand jeans, designed for mature women, in partnership with a Seattle company.

It also designs and manufactures private label brands for retailers such as Wal-Mart and Mark's Work Warehouse.

"I'm thrilled to partner with such an exceptional denim manufacturer as Western Glove Works," Crow said for the official launch of the line, to be announced today. "Being an avid denim aficionado, it's a pleasure to partner with a team that will offer a quality line of jeans that are just as accessible to consumers as my music."

Bob Silver, president of Western Glove and one of the majority owners of the Free Press, said Crowe and Western Glove share a similar value in developing the line of jeans.

"What she and we want to do together is be able to put out jeans that people in middle America and middle Canada can love and afford," said Bob Silver.

The new line, which is expected to be released in fall 2008, will retail in the $50-to-$60 range. By comparison, Western Glove's dVb jeans sell for between $250 and $300 a pair. A pair of Silver Jeans typically sells for $80 or $90.

Crow shot to fame in 1994, when All I Wanna Do from her debut album Tuesday Night Music Club became a smash hit. Crow, a breast cancer survivor, went on to earn multiple Grammy awards and recorded countless hits including Leaving Las Vegas, If It Makes You Happy, Everyday is a Winding Road and My Favorite Mistake, rumoured to be about rock legend Eric Clapton.

Western Glove announced last week it will close out the last of its production in Winnipeg, which accounted for only three per cent of the five million pairs of jeans it now makes annually.

The company will rely on its network of off-shore production facilities in China, Bangladesh, India and elsewhere.

"The Sheryl Crow jeans will probably be made in China or India, we haven't totally decided yet," Bob Silver said.
"When trying to make value jeans at that price point we'll have to look at very, very economic sources."

[NEWS] LIFETIME TV INTERVIEW

Sheryl Crow Talks Motherhood, Fitness and Global Warming at Women’s Sports Foundation Event

The Women’s Sports Foundation’s 28th Annual Salute to Women in Sports gala brought out several celebrities to honor women who’ve achieved excellence in sports. Stars at the event, which was held October 15 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York, included Sheryl Crow (a Women’s Sports Foundation Board of Trustees member), Oscar-winning actress Holly Hunter, and a virtual “who’s who” of sports champions and Olympic medalists, including Women’s Sports Foundation founder Billie Jean King, track-and-field Olympic gold medalist Jackie Joyner-Kersee, gymnast Dominique Dawes, figure skater Michelle Kwan, boxing champ/“Dancing With the Stars” alum Laila Ali and U.S. Open doubles winner Ilana Kloss.

Honorees at the event included University of Tennessee softball pitcher Monica Abbott, who was named 2007 team sportswoman of the year; golfer Lorena Ochoa (2007 individual sportswoman of the year); and Kwan (Billie Jean King Contribution Award). The Rutgers University women’s basketball team (the team that was the target of racist and sexist insults from disgraced radio host Don Imus) was given the Wilma Rudolph Courage Award.

LifetimeTV.com caught up to Crow on the red carpet, and she said her favorite sports have been running and swimming. “I ran track when I was in high school. I went to the [Missouri] state [champions] on the hurdles. I’ve been swimming since I was five years old. I competed on swim teams.”

She also revealed how she stays in such great shape: “I still run. I love running. I swim but not as much as I should. And I ride my road bike.”

In April, Crow caused quite a stir when she posted an online statement with her advice on how to combat global warming: “I propose a limitation be put on how many squares of toilet paper can be used in any one sitting.”

The singer later said the comment was tongue-in-cheek.

She laughs when she talks about the controversy now: “Thank God for the toilet-tissue incident. It got people talking about global warming in a monstrous way. And even though I feel like it was a manipulation, [the negative criticism] was kind of a knee-jerk reaction from the establishment … They took something completely out of context in order to make me look ridiculous. But in hindsight, it got everyone talking about global warming. And now we’re starting to see that people are really becoming educated about something that a lot of people were in denial about.”

In addition to surviving breast cancer last year, Crow also went through a big life change this past May, when she adopted a baby son named Wyatt Steven. She gushed about her new son: “My new baby is fantastic. He’s my little sidekick. We go everywhere together. He’s got six teeth. He looks like a little boy now. He was there the whole time that we were making my new record. He’s on one of [the songs]. The new album comes out Valentine’s Day [2008], so we’re going to celebrate!”

[NEWS] WILD HORSE PRESERVATION

Director James Kleinert is shooting an independent documentary focused on wild horses in the American West.

As IMDB reported, "Wild Horse Preservation" explores the plight of this pure symbol of American freedom. Viggo Mortensen, Sheryl Crow and a diverse array of wild horse experts cover the round-up, removal, and in some cases slaughter of America's Wild Horses."

"Wild Horse Preservation" is a documentary that explores both sides of the issue," said Nancy Wilhelms, a film promoter. "Some people really are for the wild horses, and some are against them. They want them off their land."

According to the newspaper Rocky Mountain News, Kleinert recently spent a week in Tennessee with Sheryl, who has also adopted a Mustang.

[NEWS] SHERYL CROW HAS NOT REGRET TALKING ABOUT TOILET PAPER

When Sheryl Crow blogged about saving the environment by using one square of toilet paper per bathroom visit, she drew the ire of former deputy chief of staff Karl Rove. Earlier this year, she got into a heated argument with him about climate change.

Thank God for the toilet tissue incident, because it got people talking about global warming in a monstrous way,” Sheryl, 45, says at the Women’s Sports Foundation’s Salute to Women In Sports Awards Gala held at NYC’s Waldorf-Astoria.

Even though I feel like it was a manipulation, it was a knee-jerk reaction from the establishment because of the embarrassment for Karl Rove. They took something completely out of context in order to make me look ridiculous, but in hindsight it got everyone talking about global warming. Now we see people are starting to educate themselves on something that a lot of people were in denial about. However we get there … as long as we get there.

[NEWS] DETOURS AND LOST HIGHWAYS

Excerpt from: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,302075,00.html

[...] I lucked out at the Salute to Women in Sports. Thanks to the indefatigable Peggy Siegal, the queen of New York movie premieres, we landed at a dinner table with Billie Jean King, Holly Hunter and Sheryl Crow. Also at the table were our old friends Bill and Tanny Austin of Minneapolis, the tireless do-gooders and world travelers who run the Starkey Hearing Foundation.

First, King has become the rock star of sports stars. "She’s more than a rock star," Crow said, and she’s a rock star. Crow’s new album, tentatively titled "Detours," is set for February.

"I’ve had a lot of detours in my personal life this year," she said, with a rueful laugh. She was referring to breast cancer, romantic break-ups and adopting a baby. Can’t wait to hear those lyrics.

Crow, by the way, is a hoot. She’s very real, and charming and funny. She brought her best friend from high school to the dinner, too. [...]
