Quest'oggi andra' in onda anche "Intimate&Interactive" sulla rete canadese Much More Music, nonche la trasmissione "Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2005", su CTV, 680 News, Entertainment Tonight Canada e eTalk Daily.

THAT'S MY MOM - TRANSCRIPT

Meet Sheryl Crow's Mom

(CBS) Can you tell if your child is destined for greatness? On Monday, The Early Show begins a series called "That's My Mom," which features stories about how some of America's most accomplished people were raised. Co-anchor Harry Smith got some parenting tips from the mother of a musical giant. The following is his report.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kennett, Mo., is in the boot heel of the state, way down in the southeast corner near Arkansas and Tennessee. There I found a mom who was justifiably proud of the accomplishments of her daughter in school.

She ran track and was a drum majorette. We all knew girls like this — busy and popular. She was even elected Paper Doll Queen.

"She was pretty conservative and in college she was really preppy," says Bernice Crow.

This hometown girl was destined for a career as a music teacher, but she started singing in bands in St. Louis and then her big break came when she sang backup for Michael Jackson.

"Yeah, that, that was kind of mind blowing!" Bernice Crow says.

Her daughter, of course, is Sheryl Crow. And though she wants to "soak up the sun," her mom says she had no idea there were inner yearnings to be a rock star.

"I wasn't a kid that, that was dreaming to be on stage,"
Sheryl Crow says. "It never even occurred to me that that would be part of my future."

Sheryl Crow was raised by musicians. Her mother was a piano teacher and her parents knew when she aimed for the big time, she might struggle.

"She went through a bad time when she was having trouble getting a recording contract," Bernice Crow says. But her advice has always been the same: "Always do the very best you can at what you're doing. And I think she definitely does that. I don't know whether I had a part in that or not. I'd like to think so."

Asked what she likes best about her mom, Sheryl Crow says, "When I tell people about my mom, I think the thing as I've gotten older that amazes me about her is that she's so fair. Even if I decide to go a different direction, she's very supportive, and just an extremely fair person."

"Thank you," Bernice says. "I always love these confessions!"

And pleasing her mom still matters to Sheryl.

"I still care," she says. "I'm still their kid, and I still want them to be proud of me."

There's a big sign in the middle of a field that says, "Kennett, home of Sheryl Crow.

"Well, I can tell you I'm really proud of that sign, and really happy that this is still home to her," says Bernice Crow.

Sheryl Crow gives back to her hometown, too. She helped pay for a new aquatic center and performs free concerts. Some of her outfits are on sale in the attic of a local antique store with the proceeds going to charity.

"That's a really, really cool pair of pants there. Just broken in good," says Bernice Crow holding her daughter's old pants.

There is also a trophy Sheryl Crow won as a teenager by playing the piano.

Asked whether she is more proud of that trophy or the nine Grammy awards, Bernice Crow answers, "I know the agony that went into this one right here (pointing to the piano trophy). I know the labor that went into that one. And maybe I'm proudest of that."

Asking Sheryl Crow what she thinks her mom's answer to that question is, she says, "The trophy for piano, I'm sure!"

But what makes Bernice Crow happiest of all is to see her daughter preparing for a wedding with Lance Armstrong.

At the Presbyterian Church, Bernice Crow was asked if there was any chance her daughter will get married there.

"I don't know. I always thought she might,"
Bernice Crow says. Would she like to see that? "Well, of course!"

So why not tell Sheryl Crow her wishes?

"So you've brought Harry here to tell me?" Sheryl Crow asks her mom.

"I didn't want to create any pressure," her mom answers with a smile.

Like most mothers who raise a daughter to take flight in the world, Bernice Crow sees her little girl the way she used to be.

"Sometimes I think it's sort of like two different people," Bernice Crow says. "There's the Sheryl, our Sheryl, here, home, and then there's this other famous person."

Bernice Crow is arguably the most popular piano teacher in Kennett, Mo. As for the Sheryl Crow and Lance Armstrong wedding, there is still no date or location but there is that church in her hometown — and it's available.

SHERYL AND BERNICE CROW TO APPEAR ON CBS EARLY SHOW

Sheryl Crow, left, and her mom, Bernice Crow, at the grand opening of the Sheryl Crow Aquatic Center at Kennett on May 28, 2005. The mother-daughter pair is featured at 7 a.m. CST Monday on CBS's Early Show.

When songwriter Paul Simon described a mother and child reunion, he probably didn't have Monday's CBS Early Show in mind. The nationally-broadcasted production for the breakfast set is slated to focus on Kennett's Sheryl Crow and her mom, Bernice Crow, in a segment that features celebrities and their mothers.

"CBS came to Kennett and filmed it about a month ago," Bernice Crow said Friday. "Harry Smith came and spoke with me.

"I think the interesting thing to the community will be they filmed the high school band marching," Crow added. "If it gets in the piece, I don't know. They film lots and lots and then cut it down to five or 10 minutes."

Crow said the film crew worked in a number of places in town, including on The Square, in the Bank of Antiques' Sheryl Crow room, at the Presbyterian Church and at the Dunklin County Library's Sheryl Crow exhibit.

"They came to our home, but they didn't do any filming here," Crow said. "I went down to the library first with the producer of the show.

"He said, 'This is great,'" she added. "'We're not going to do anything at your house because this is perfect.' Everything is there. So, they filmed most of it there at the library, and then more at Mary Jo's -- at The Bank of Antiques."

Crow said the focus of the segment concerns what's it's like to be the mother of a famous person.

"I don't mind it," she laughed. "It's part of the job description."

CBS's Smith and crew interviewed Bernice and Sheryl together at the Grammy Award winner's New York apartment after the company's Kennett visit, Crow explained.

"We went to New York two days later for the Saturday Night Live show," Crow said. "Sheryl performed a concert at Lincoln Center.

"Then [Smith] came to her apartment and talked to both of us there," she added. "I'm sure they'll include some of that."

As for her daughter's coming nuptials to cycling icon Lance Armstrong, Bernice said the wedding will be quick and won't be in Kennett.

"Although we thought [Daily Dunklin Democrat Publisher Bud Hunt] had lots of great ideas," Bernice laughed. "We sent his columns to her. "She loved it."

The program airs at 7 a.m. CST Monday on CBS affiliates coast to coast.

CAREY, CROW SERVES UP THANKSGIVING PERFORMANCES

November 24, 2005, 12:00 AM ET
Barry A. Jeckell, N.Y.
As Americans settle in today (Nov. 24) for a traditional Thanksgiving Day feast and National Football League (NFL) games in Detroit and Dallas, they will also be treated to performances by pop stars Mariah Carey, Sheryl Crow and Toni Braxton.

Carey will be on hand in Detroit, where the Lions will face off against the Atlanta Falcons at Ford Field. Carey will perform two songs between halves of the game, while Braxton will deliver the National Anthem prior to the opening kickoff. The game will be televised by Fox beginning at 12:30 p.m. ET.

Crow has been tapped to launch the Salvation Army's annual Red Kettle Christmas Holiday Campaign with her performance at Texas Stadium in Irving, Texas. The halftime show of this game annually serves as the kickoff to national fundraising effort.

"I just think it's about awareness," says Crow. "It's about having the urge to give back at a time right now where we're exposed to so many images that represent need and consciousness and Salvation Army has always represented that."

The game vs. the Denver Broncos is slated will be broadcast live on CBS beginning at 4 p.m. ET.

IL DVD DEL LIVE FROM CENTRAL PARK? STATE FRESCHI!

SHERYL CROW : ME AND MY MOTORS

Sheryl Crow was born in 1962 in Missouri. She wrote her first song at 13 before studying music at Missouri University after which she worked as a music teacher for autistic children. Her first break was as a backing singer for Michael Jackson in 1986: she has since won nine Grammy awards. She is currently on tour, performing last week in London. She is engaged to Lance Armstrong, nine years her junior, who has won the Tour de France seven times

‘The most romantic thing anyone’s ever done for me is to take me out into the middle of a lake in a rowing boat surrounded by mountains and ask me to get married,” says Sheryl Crow, flashing a smile as she recalls her engagement to 34-year-old Lance Armstrong, the Tour de France champion she began dating last year.

“We were on a mountain biking holiday in Sun Valley, Idaho, and we just planned to spend the day together and drive up to a little town called Stanley. The scenery there was gorgeous and this guy let us borrow his little fishing boat."

“Lance knew he wanted to pop the question but he had no idea it would be in such a beautiful way. Then it was so funny because out on the lake the motor ran out of gas so he had to row me back in.”

For a moment her sharp blue eyes take on a scary intensity and I’m grateful I’m not on the receiving end of one of her famous rants against the politics of the Bush administration. But her face quickly softens and there’s no doubt that 43-year-old Crow is enjoying having her light eclipsed by her fiancé’s fame.

“I grew up in a really close-knit family and there were things I really wanted from my life but had so far never been able to have,” she says, explaining her willingness to take a break from her career to support Lance and get involved with his three young children whenever he competes. “I really wanted to experience being normal — to have a life that’s based on being home with someone. Dropping everything to follow him round the world is a gift I gave myself.”

Armstrong gave her a car for Christmas, a 1959 Mercedes 190 convertible. In return she gave him a blue 1970 Pontiac GTO and had that ride “pimped” on a television show called Overhaulin’. Pretending the car had been stolen, she arranged for the TV team to take it away for a week and overhaul it. They put in a 400bhp Pontiac engine, customised the wheels and installed a leather interior with a huge stereo system. Then they painted it black with yellow highlights to signify the yellow jersey Lance wore as leader of the Tour de France and his support for cancer research that led him to invent the trend for yellow wristbands. “Old cars are big and sturdy and I have always liked the look and feel of them,” says Crow. “It’s just like my love of antiques and vintage clothes — there’s just something that draws me to love older things. “My first car was a 1974 Z28 Pontiac with a real fast, big engine. Nobody told me I was supposed to change the oil and one day it broke down and I had to buy a whole new short block for it. But after that I had it for years.” Her vehicle history includes some real muscle cars — two 1964 Corvettes, a 1971 Chevy Malibu and an old CJ5 Jeep. In addition to her Mercedes she owns a 1965 Corvette Stingray and a BMW X5 that she bought to carry her labrador. All her cars are a good match for her American rock chick image, but in a radical departure from her history the car she drives most is a Toyota Prius.

“I’m very concerned about the environment,” she explains. “And because I was one of the first people to complain about the war with Iraq, I thought the smallest and least thing I could do was drive a hybrid and keep my environmental karma clean. “Besides which, I’m not noticed very much in that car. One of the reasons I don’t go out in the Corvette much any more is that I get seen more easily, which can be a pain.”

Raised in Kennett, Missouri, with two older sisters and a younger brother, Crow had a father who was a civil rights lawyer. After college she taught music and played Rolling Stones covers in bar bands until she drove 27 hours to California in a dying Renault Alliance.

In Los Angeles she joined Michael Jackson’s Bad tour for six months as a backing singer and then sang backup for Joe Cocker, Tom Jones and Rod Stewart. She secured her own record deal in 1990 but her first album, Tuesday Night Music Club, performed only moderately.

Only when she went on the road for 2½ years did she start to make serious sales. Eventually people bought the album by the million and she won her first Grammy (she has since won eight more). In September she released her first album in three years, Wildflower, and she is hoping it reflects the happier side of her life now she is in a settled relationship.

“At the moment I drive the way I live my life,” she says. “I assume the best of people. But that isn’t always a good idea — I figure people will be acting responsibly, so I don’t drive defensively. I have been known to cut people up not knowing they were driving right up the backside of my car. So my approach is not reality based, I know."

“The bottom line for me is a car has to have a good stereo. Every time I make a record the place I take the rough mix to is the car, because that’s where most people are going to hear your record. If it sounds good coming through the car stereo then more than likely you’re getting it right.”

On  her CD player

Almost anything by the Allman Brothers is great to drive to. I also love The Dance by Fleetwood Mac, and I look at the world differently when I hear Stevie Nicks sing — the colours change. Cold Roses by Ryan Adams is another favourite.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Launches Major Fundraising Campaign

By Maria Burnham, The Commercial Appeal, Memphis, Tenn.

Nov. 20--From pizzas and golf balls to Antonio Banderas and Kermit the Frog, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has recruited more than 40 corporate partners and dozens of celebrities to help raise funds during its second annual Thanks and Giving campaign.

"The name, Thanks and Giving, reminds us to give thanks for the healthy children we have, and to give to help those who are not," said John Moses, chief executive officer of the American Lebanese Syrian Associated Charities, St. Jude's fund-raising arm. "It's appropriate that it be launched at Thanksgiving time."

The campaign kicks off Monday. Retailers like Target, Pottery Barn, Nine West and Athlete's Foot are offering specialty gifts, including T-shirts, teddy bears and holiday ornaments, or encouraging shoppers to add a donation at the register. Domino's Pizza, which last year selected St. Jude as its philanthropic partner, is participating this year by asking customers to add $1 or more at the register, said Jason Shifflett, a local Domino's franchisee.

"This year every one of our units worldwide will have the opportunity to give back. Our goal is to raise a million dollars." Although its a companywide fund-raiser, Shifflett said his team is particularly committed because St. Jude is a hometown institution. "It's important to us to make a substantial impact. We want to do all we can to make this fund-raiser successful."

ALSAC plans to spend around $4 million on the fund-raiser effort and raise $18 million, Moses said. Last year the organization spent just over $2 million on the fund-raising event and raised more than $11 million. Along with the corporate effort, the hospital has a media campaign planned with celebrities donating their time to record television spots and movie trailers. Celebrity involvement this year includes Sarah Jessica Parker, Robin Williams, Morgan Freeman, Faith Hill, Billy Crystal, Jennifer Aniston, Jimmy Buffett, Tiger Woods and Sheryl Crow.

The campaign ends Dec. 31.

SHERYL E L'INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Saluti Dual Porco... ehm, Dual Core :-)

[WILDFLOWER] REVIEW FROM DAYTON DAILY NEWS

Rock

Grade : B+

Memo to fans : When Sheryl Crow is sad she sounds chipper, and when she's on top of the world she sounds awful.

Not awful as in musically mediocre, of course. It's pretty much impossible at this point to imagine that Crow could ever produce a bad album, or one that was mostly disappointing. She's far too good for that, and her work on Wildflower reinforces our notion that she's among the most reliable and consistent pop-music artists in America. We look forward to everything she does.

In this case, we mean awful in the sense of mood. Wildflower's 11 songs are mostly sad ballads and downtempo tales of love lost, relationships wrecked and romantic chances missed, often by just a few inches. The funny thing about this is that her life is at a rather well-publicized high point, career- and love-life-wise. Meanwhile, she's said in a bunch of recent interviews that when she was recording her last CD, the sunny C'mon C'mon, she was at a low ebb and hated every minute in the studio.

So, what gives? Well, first of all nobody ever said that pop singers are always and only singing about themselves, though that is a conceit we in the audience tend to impose as we listen. We've been told so often that the true artist should write what he or she knows that we've accepted it as gospel, the only possible explanation for the emotions portrayed in the artwork.

But there is craft at work here, too, and professionalism — meaning that Crow is free, and apparently able, to adopt and then shed any variety of skins as she works her way through a project whose intent is, at the end of the day, entertainment and nothing more. And entertaining it is, though not in the way we intitially expect. That in itself is a credit to her artistry.

And face it: We all love to feel a bit sorry for ourselves from time to time, don't we? Wildflower provides the perfect soundtrack for it, but it is undergirded by sufficient wit, grace and intelligence that, while we can see ourselves in some of these sorrowful stories, we won't feel stupid.

On Lifetimes, for instance, she isn't gloomy for no reason — she's sad because her significant other is, too. "We can live lifetimes in a single day / No matter what you do, I love you anyway," she sings. It's as wise and loving a portrait of the special bond of empathy shared by soulmates as anybody's put in a simple pop song in a long, long time.

But then, Crow got us to expect much more from her than mere simple pop songs a long, long time ago, too. She hasn't let us down yet, even if she's walking through the rain this time rather than soaking up the sun.

CROW CONSIDERS SPINE CORRECTION

American singer SHERYL CROW has no interest in cosmetic surgery - but she would consider an operation to correct her curved spine. The ALL I WANNA DO hitmaker, 43, is acutely aware that one of her hips sits significantly higher than the other thanks to the problem with her back.

And, even though her condition usually passes unnoticed to the uninformed eye, she would relish the opportunity to experience life with a perfectly balanced body. She says, "I would correct my spine. I have a curved spine that gives me a lot of trouble.

"Most people say they don't notice it, but one of my hips is significantly higher than the other and once you know to look for that you'll see it."

Povera Sheryl, e chi l'avrebbe mai detto?

SHERYL E I SUPERCOMPUTERS

Our life is somewhat out there, but we protect it pretty heavily".

Wildflower  ***1/2

A&M Records (Universal) 0602498848005
Musica & Dischi: [691 - 2005/11] pp. 46

SHERYL CANTERA' "RING OF FIRE"

Una stellina e mezzo. Ho appena letto la recensione di David Bianculli del New York Daily su "I Walk the line : A night for Johnny Cash".

Voto 7/10 Sal. Dar.

TABLOIDS ROOTING FOR NEWS OF BREAKUP

NEW YORK (AP) — Dating Lance Armstrong has given Sheryl Crow a taste of what it feels like to be part of a celebrity couple — and she's not too crazy about it.

"I think we've actually escaped a lot of it, because I've seen what happened to Brad and Jen and Nick and Jessica," Crow told The Associated Press in a recent interview.

Crow said celebrity magazines are more interested in seeing a couple break up than reporting on them being happy together. The 43-year-old singer and Armstrong, 34, announced their engagement in September.

"When we were rumored to have split, and when our publicists called these magazines to say we haven't split, the magazines were all so disappointed because that's really what's selling, rooting for a couple and then they split," she said. "That's what sells the magazines."

And Crow says it's not just tabloids that perpetuate the negative vibe.

"There's so much harshness in the world now, there are so many hard edges," she complained. "I cannot pick up a magazine or really even for that matter a newspaper without some kind of nasty editorial comment that just offends me. Why can't we just report things the way they are or see things for the good in them? ... It's an insidious energy."

Although Crow was by Armstrong's side to cheer him on during his last two wins on the Tour de France and she credits him for inspiring her latest album, "Wildflower," Crow says she tries to keep her relationship with him as private as possible.

"Our life is somewhat out there, but we protect it pretty heavily."

SHERYL ADDED TO AMA 2005

NEW YORK

Lindsay Lohan, Hilary Duff and Sheryl Crow have been added to the lineup of performers for the "2005 American Music Awards."

The 33rd annual special will air live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles Nov. 22 on ABC (8 p.m. EST). Cedric the Entertainer will host the show. Sheryl Crow Headlines Oldest Charity Fund-Raising Event

Live Benefit Performance at Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day Game to Kick-Off Salvation Army Red Kettle Christmas Campaign

NEW YORK, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Sheryl Crow will join the Dallas Cowboys this year in support of one of the world's oldest philanthropic campaigns, The Salvation Army's Red Kettle Christmas Campaign. In an announcement made today in New York City where Ms. Crow is currently on tour, Jerry Jones, the Cowboys' Owner, said that she will be this year's headline performer during the team's traditional Thanksgiving Day football game at Texas Stadium. This year's game, to be televised nationally by CBS, will be Thursday, Nov. 24 against the Denver Broncos.

"Sheryl Crow is one of the most popular entertainment artists today and we are excited about the opportunity to have her with us on Thanksgiving Day to kick off one of the most important fund-raising drives in America - the Red Kettle Campaign," said Mr. Jones.

The Red Kettle campaign, first begun in San Francisco in 1891, has traditionally been The Salvation Army's most prominent fund-raiser. In 2004, the campaign raised over $100 million in communities nationwide, with the nickels, dimes, quarters and dollars all remaining in the towns where the money was deposited into the kettles. The funds raised help support many of the 37 million people in poverty who turn to the Army for food and toys at Christmas, utility and homeless assistance, senior and child care, drug abuse treatment and many other social service needs. The Cowboy's eight years of support for the Army's Red Kettle charity drive has helped raise nearly $800 million. Past Cowboy game half-time performers have included Destiny's Child, Toby Keith, LeAnn Rimes, Jessica Simpson, Billy Gilman, Clint Black and Reba McEntire. In addition to their half-time performance, the entertainers also have been available for media and other appearances on behalf of the Red Kettle campaign.

"I look forward to continuing the wonderful tradition established between The Salvation Army and the Dallas Cowboys. Both organizations help the needy in countless ways, and together, we can raise funds to offer hope to our neighbors in need during the Christmas season and year round," said Ms. Crow. Major George Hood, national community relations and development secretary for The Salvation Army, said that the Red Kettles and volunteer bell ringers will be on city streets nationwide beginning Thanksgiving Week through Christmas Eve.

"The Cowboys and Sheryl Crow help us to highlight the greatest need of all during the holiday season, and that's to help others in need," Major Hood said.

The Salvation Army:

The Salvation Army, an evangelical part of the universal Christian church, has been supporting those in need in His name without discrimination since 1865. Nearly 34 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army each year through the broadest array of social services that range from providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless and opportunities for underprivileged children. About 83 cents of every dollar raised is used to support those services in nearly 5,000 communities nationwide. [ WILDFLOWER TOUR ] CONCERT REVIEW

Crow Hasn't Lost Her Touch

BY RAFER GUZMÁN

November 2, 2005

As Sheryl Crow switched from guitar to piano to bass Sunday night, it was easy to ignore the numerous roadies hustling on and off the stage - until one of them gave her not only a guitar but an affectionate kiss.

Why, that was no roadie, but Lance Armstrong, the champion cyclist and Crow's beau. The two had taken over "Saturday Night Live" the previous evening, with her as musical guest and him as host. "My fiance the ack-tor," Crow said with a loving roll of the eyes.

It was a homey, casual concert, despite Crow's wedding-style white dress, a four-piece band and a 16-member orchestra led by David Campbell, who arranged the lush, evocative strings on nearly all of Crow's latest album, "Wildflower" (A&M). Crow chatted with her audience frequently, explaining songs, narrating little stories (including one about Bob Dylan, whose voice she mimicked rather well) and poking fun at herself. After flubbing the chorus on "My Favorite Mistake," she waved the band to a halt.

"Let's try that again," she said, laughing. "We're all family here, right?"

Crow, 43, has reached that point in her career where connecting with old fans is more important than chasing new ones. She's still capable of producing hits: In recent years she's kept herself on the charts with "Picture" (an unlikely duet with Kid Rock) and a couple of singles, "Soak Up the Sun" and the Grammy-winning "Steve McQueen," from her 2002 album "C'mon C'mon." But the radio-conquering days of "Leaving Las Vegas" are probably behind her.

With "Wildflower," Crow is settling into her role as a singer-songwriter, as opposed to the sexy pop-rocker. The album is thoughtful and occasionally somber. You won't hear good-time hip-shakers like "All I Wanna Do." Instead, there's the ode to denial "I Don't Wanna Know." Even the upbeat "Live It Up" seems a little sobering on close listen: "Live it up/Like there's no time left/And there's no time to kill."

Not that Crow's concert was a bummer. She began with "Run Baby Run," unleashing a powerful voice that would shame pop divas half her age. And Crow's new songs sounded like old favorites, partly because they borrowed from familiar sources. "I Know Why" began with moody folk chords a la Neil Young; the anti-war tune "Where Has All the Love Gone" featured dipping guitar lines like George Harrison's; and "Always on Your Side," during which Crow played piano, was a dead ringer for an Elton John production. (She closed the show with his sprawling "Levon.")

For her encore, Crow appeared in a more familiar outfit - a black corset and fashionably ratty jeans - and ran through a chugging version of "Every Day Is a Winding Road." It was Crow's way of seeing whether she's still got it, and indeed she does.

SHERYL CROW. Something old, something new. Seen Sunday at Avery Fisher Hall, Manhattan.
