Tom Hanks joined Savannah Guthrie on Thursday in front of a crowd of caregivers and military veterans at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway to highlight a special cause championed by former Sen. Elizabeth Dole.

Dole created the Hidden Heroes campaign in 2016 to raise awareness of issues military caregivers routinely face, inspire organizations and citizens to support the caregivers in their own communities, and establish a national registry that helps connect caregivers to resources and support.

Sheryl Crow performed in front of a crowd of caregivers and military veterans.

The presence of Tom Hanks and Sheryl Crow attracted IndyCar CEO Mark Miles to check out the show. He praised NBC as the network prepares to air the Indy 500 for the first time.

"This is really terrific," Miles said before Crow performed "If It Makes You Happy" and "Soak Up the Sun" on a temporary stage near the track's start-finish line. "NBC has been an incredible partner in promoting everything May. It's a huge undertaking to bring the 'Today' show here, to bring Sheryl Crow and now Tom Hanks. It's just part of a massive effort to bring more attention to Indianapolis and Indianapolis Motor Speedway."

Sheryl performed a piano version of current single "Redemption Day" on a special set at the base of the Pagoda.

[NEWS] Sheryl to appear on the forthcoming Rusty Truck album

I have no further info but sounds cool anyway!

Just for the record, Sheryl had already collaborated with Rusty Truck many years ago. She provided background vocals and played accordion and acoustic guitar on RT's debut album "Broken Promises" (Code Terra, 2003).

Here's a little video shot during the recording of "Cold Ground" (nice track, by the way!).

[NEWS] Sheryl Crow will play at Girls Just Wanna Weekend 2020

Brandi Carlile will head up the return of her Brandi Carlile’s Girls Just Wanna Weekend destination concert event. The second annual Girls Just Wanna Weekend will take place at the Hard Rock Hotel in Riviera Maya, Mexico January 29 – February 2, 2020.

Brandi Carlile will perform three full concerts during the event. Sheryl Crow, Lake Street Dive, Patty Griffin, Lucius, Wanda Sykes (comedy set), KT Tunstall, Jade Bird, Amanda Shires and Yola are also aboard for Girls Just Wanna Weekend 2. Natalie Hemby, Katie Herzig and Ruby Amanfu are the event’s special guests. Once again, Could 9 Adventures will produce the festival in partnership with The Bowery Presents.

“Mainstream festivals in the U.S. habitually exclude women as headline artists equal to men. I was brought up by Lilith Fair to believe that men and women enjoy live music equally and that women can not only headline a festival—they can BE a festival. I’m proud to announce that our festival has an ALL female-fronted lineup,” Carlile said when the first all-inclusive Girls Just Wanna Weekend was announced. “I would absolutely LOVE to see a ton of men there supporting women in rock and roll, I want to see mothers with children, single people, LGBTQ brothers and sisters letting it all go for a weekend together in harmony (with bottomless tequila on hand to assist).”

Packages include accommodations, unlimited food and alcohol, workshop and curated activities and more. A pre-sale for returning guests began a few weeks ago. Remaining rooms go on sale this Friday, May 10 at 12 p.m. ET. Head here for more information and to book a room.
