Sheryl Crow is going to stir things up on GCB April 1, and we have your first look at this April Fools Day treat.

"It's a very special episode," says creator Robert Harling. "This is the episode that starts a rivalry between Carlene and Cricket. They're both such incredible musical talents who are getting their chance to sing at the church fundraiser. They consider themselves big stars, but Heather is dating a zillionaire who manages to score Sheryl Crow as the entertainment and trump the other women."

Harling says the song Sheryl sings, "The Gospel According to Me," fits perfectly with the tone of his show. "It's perfect synchronicity," he says. "Sheryl saw the pilot and totally responded to what we were doing. It was meant to be!"

The episode also marks a turning point in Gigi's relationship with old flame Burl (Bruce Boxleitner, who debuts in this Sunday's episode). Also keep an eye out for former Knots Landing diva Donna Mills as Burl's wife, Bitsy, who comes to a costume party dressed as Barbara Bush. Then in the April 1 episode, Gigi will interrupt Sheryl's concert to make an announcement about her relationship with Burl.

San Francisco stint to precede Broadway
By Gordon Cox

The tuner version of "Diner" has mapped out its road to Broadway, setting a San Francisco tryout this fall ahead of a targeted spring 2013 bow on the Rialto.

Musical had initially been aimed for a fall opening on the Main Stem, but with the San Fran dates set, the timeline has been shifted back a bit.

Sheryl Crow pens the score for the show with a book by Barry Levinson, the writer-helmer of the original 1982 pic. Kathleen Marshall, currently in rehearsal for the upcoming Rialto musical "Nice Work If You Can Get It," directs and choreographs.

Tuner has its world preem at San Francisco's Curran Theater, part of the area's Shorenstein Hays Nederlander network of venues. The Bay Area burg has long been one of the go-to cities for pre-Broadway runs, with past shows including "Wicked" and "Legally Blonde" among those bowing there prior to the Rialto.

San Fran stint for "Diner" is set for Oct. 23-Nov. 18, with Gotham dates and theater still to be announced. Casting and other details also are not yet firmed up.

Musical is produced by BASE Entertainment, led by toppers Scott Zeiger and Brian Becker, with the titled licensed by Warner Bros. Theater Ventures.

Heroes, The New Willie Nelson Album, Coming Tuesday, May 15

NEW YORK, March 15, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Legacy Recordings is pleased to announce the upcoming release of Heroes, the eagerly-awaited album of new songs and re-imagined classics performed by Willie Nelson, America's legendary outlaw country music avatar, on Tuesday, May 15.

The first release under the artist's historic new deal with Legacy, Heroes is essential Willie Nelson, a seamless collection of top-flight pop-country songs (including covers from the 30s and 40s and new songs by Willie, his sons, Lukas Nelson and Micah Nelson, and more) performed with the easy-going homespun warmth and honesty that have become his trademarks.

Produced by Buddy Cannon, Heroes was mainly recorded by Steve Chadie at Pedernales Recording Studio in Austin, Texas (with three tracks--"Hero," "Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die" and "Come On Back Jesus"--recorded by Butch Carr at Cannon Productions and Sound Emporium Recording Studios in Nashville).

The album opens with Willie and Merle Haggard joining forces on a powerful new rendition of Wayne ("The Letter," "Always On My Mind") Carson's "A Horse Called Music" (the title song from Willie's 1989 album) then tears into the rollicking "Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die," one of the album's new Willie Nelson songs (this one cowritten with Buddy Cannon, Rich Alves, John Colgin and Mike McQuerry with the recording featuring special guests Snoop Dogg, Kris Kristofferson and Jamey Johnson).

Other brand-new Willie Nelson compositions making their debut on Heroes are "Hero," featuring guest appearances by Jamey Johnson and Billy Joe Shaver, and "Come On Back Jesus" (co-written with Buddy Cannon and Micah Nelson) featuring Lukas Nelson and Micah Nelson.

The collection includes producer Buddy Cannon's new composition, "That's All There Is To This Song" and three tunes penned by Lukas Nelson--"No Place To Fly," "Every Time He Drinks He Thinks of Her," and "The Sound of Your Memory" (cowritten with Elizabeth Rainey). Lukas performs with his dad on several of the album's tracks including a droll soulful take on the Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan composition, "Come On Up To The House," sung with Sheryl Crow.

Backing Willie and his guitar, Trigger, on Heroes is The "Roll Me Up" Band featuring Kevin "Swine" Grantt (bass), Bobby Terry (electric guitar, acoustic guitar), Jim "Moose" Brown (piano, Wurlitzer, B-3 organ), Mike Johnson (steel guitar), Tony Creasman (drums), Mickey Raphael (harmonica), Lukas Nelson (electric guitar).

Additional musicians on the record include Paul Shaffer (B-3 organ), Butch Carr (synthesizer), Steve Brewster (drums) and producer Buddy Cannon (bass, acoustic guitar). Melonie Cannon, Buddy Cannon, Lance Miller and Kris Kristofferson contribute background vocals toHeroes.

Willie revisits the roots of classic country with three pre-rock gems: the 1930's ballad "My Window Faces The South," Fred Rose's immortal "Home In San Antone" from 1943, and 1949's "Cold War With You," a still timely take on the battle of the sexes with guest artist Ray Price. (Price made Willie's composition, "Night Life," a smash in 1960 and Willie served as a member of Ray's band, the Cherokee Cowboys).

Willie's interpretation of Coldplay's "The Scientist," featured in an acclaimed animated short film produced by Chipotle to demonstrate the company's commitment to sustainably raised food, is featured on Heroes.

The album's focus track is Willie's sublime interpretation of Pearl Jam's "Just Breathe," performed with Lukas.

Heroes marks the first release in a historic new record deal between Willie Nelson and Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, announced in early February. The deal marks a label homecoming for Nelson, who, from 1975-1993, cut a phenomenal string of top-selling singles and albums for Columbia Records, beginning with 1975's seminal smash Red Headed Stranger.

"I'm really happy to be back home with Sony Music. We have been partners for many years; all the way back to Pamper Music and Tree Music. We share a great history, and I'm looking forward to many more years together," said Willie Nelson.

Forthcoming Willie Nelson titles under the Legacy imprint will include newly recorded songs and performances as well as archival releases, personally curated by the artist, drawn from all phases of his career including his recordings for RCA Records and others.

As curator of his catalog, Willie will work with label archivists to select recordings, including previously released and previously unreleased tracks, for release in newly compiled collections and as bonus material on new editions of existing titles. The newly curated Willie Nelson titles will provide fresh perspective and context to the artist's profoundly influential and successful career.

With a six-decade career and a catalog of more than 200 albums to his credit, the iconic Texas singer-songwriter Willie Nelson has earned a permanent position in pop music's pantheon with songs that combine the sophistication of Tin Pan Alley with the rough-and-tumble grit and emotional honesty of country music. He brought pop and country together on the radio in the early 1960s with unforgettable songs like "Crazy" (Patsy Cline), "Hello Walls" (Faron Young), "Funny How Time Slips Away" (Billy Walker), "Night Life" (Ray Price) and others and, by the mid-1970s, had become a superstar in his own right as a prime mover of a revolutionary and thriving outlaw country music scene. The Red Headed Stranger, Willie's first album for Columbia Records in 1975, catapulted the artist to the front ranks of popularity, making his a familiar name in country and city households across America and around-the-world.

A seven-time Grammy Award winner, Willie Nelson has received numerous accolades including American Music Awards, Academy of Country Music Awards, Country Music Association Awards and others. He is a co-founder of Farm Aid, an annual series of fundraising events which began as an all-star benefit concert in 1985 to raise money for American family farmers. He continues to lobby against horse slaughter and produces his own blend of biodiesel fuel. An old-school road-dog troubadour with new school wheels, Willie plays concerts year-round, tirelessly touring on Honeysuckle Rose III (he rode his first two buses into the ground), taking his music and fans to places that are always worth the ride.

According to Vater Percussion, Fred Eltringham (Wallflower, kd Lang, Dixie Chicks) has been appointed as the new drummer for Sheryl. I already knew him and his killer drumming so i'm glad he's now part of the band. Fred is going to replace Victor Indrizzo that left after two years of faithful duty. Thank you Victor! I wish you the best!

It's worth noting that Fred is also a member of the kick ass Nashville based southern rock band "Big Hat", along with our beloved Peter Stroud and some other talented cats.

Congrats Fred and welcome aboard!

Backbeat: '$ellebrity' Star Sheryl Crow, Director Kevin Mazur, Beggars' Martin Mills @ SXSW Film Afterparty

By Phil Gallo for

Sheryl Crow was a late arrival to the world premiere screening of "$ellebrity," Kevin Mazur's documentary on paparazzi and celebrity gossip media, the result of bad weather delaying her flight. She was able to jump in on the tail end of one of the festival's longer post-screening Q&A's to address one of the film's central points -- should there be laws about the use of photos of celebrities' children? Crow, naturally, wishes lenses stayed away from her children Wyatt and Levi and she noted that her move to Nashville was partly driven by her desire to lead a quieter, less celebrity-obsessed life.

Elton John, Kid Rock and Crow are the only musicians featured in the film. She also made the point that so many people have their noses buried in celebrity magazines that she can walk through airports and not be stopped or even recognized by people obsessed with bold-faced names.

After "$ellebrity" had its premiere at the Alamo Lamar, the entourage moved to the patio at the W Hotel in downtown where Beggars Banquet label founder Martin Mills, "Austin City Limits" producer Terry Lickona and Piper Cub Productions CEO Jeanne Elfant Festa were hanging with "Sellebrity" executive producer David Wild.

Mills has a slew of bands coming to Austin, among them the Alabama Shakes who will be filming an episode of "Austin City Limits" on Tuesday. Other Beggars acts heading to town include Girls, SBTRKT and Jack White.

Wild, who conducted all of the interviews with celebrities, said a crew flew to England specifically to shoot Elton John and they wound up with a block of time on a day he was throwing a party. "We had six minutes," Wild said, "and the best part of the interview was a minute and half of him explaining why he agreed to perform at Rush Limbaugh's wedding, which we couldn't use. Usually you shoot an hour just to get five minutes. I think everything Elton said on camera is in the film."

I just found the synopsis of the episode with Sheryl as special guest star:

Episode 5, "Forbidden Fruit" - Heather brings Sheryl Crow to perform at the annual church fundraiser with a little help from her client and new love interest, Andrew (Tom Everett Scott), but it's Gigi who steals the show with Burl (Bruce Boxleitner), while Carlene and Amanda find another reason to disagree with each other.

Yesterday Sheryl was at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Austin, TX for the premiere of "$ellebrity". She joined the producers on stage for a Q&A and talked about her experiences with paparazzi, particularly when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006. Sheryl also did some interviews for various TV and magazines.

[NEWS] 'A Night to Make It Right' brings celebrity glamour to Loyola Avenue

“A Night to Make It Right” is bringing together 1,200 supporters of Hurricane Katrina rebuilding at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans tonight. The hosts of the glittering charity gala are Hollywood leading man, part-time Crescent City resident and Make It Right founder Brad Pitt; homegrown TV talk-show star Ellen DeGeneres; and New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees.

The guests, who paid between $1,000 and $2,500 to attend, are being treated to a four-course dinner whipped up by New Orleans culinary heroes John Besh, Emeril Lagasse, Donald Link and others. Later, they will tap their feet to a private concert featuring pop luminaries Rihanna, Sheryl Crow, Seal and Dr. John. They will rub elbows with a roster of celebrity guests that includes “American Idol” judge and Baton Rouge native Randy Jackson.

Gala-goers can help fill Make It Right’s coffers further during a silent auction. One choice item reportedly up for grabs is a guitar personalized with a message for New Orleans by rocker Bono.

As the sold-out gala ebbs, actor and comedian Aziz Ansari will host “A Night to Make It Right After Party,” with performances by stars Kanye West, Seal, Snoop Dogg and the Soul Rebels. All 1,700 tickets to the relatively intimate concert have been sold, according to the Make It Right website.

"Fame": A Playlist For The Premiere of "$ellebrity" at SXSW

by David Wild

This Sunday in Austin, Texas, "$ellebrity" -- the first feature documentary directed by respected celebrity photographer Kevin Mazur -- will premiere at the South by Southwest Film Festival. I know this because I'm an Executive Producer of the film - which in this case means that I had the considerable pleasure of filming remarkably candid interviews with assorted famous folks like Jennifer Aniston, Elton John, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow, among many other interesting people, about the state of fame today. "$ellebrity" -- which Huff Po recently spotlighted as one of the most anticipated films of the SXSW Film Festival -- explores the good, the bad and the ugly about our cultural obsession with fame -- and the way that technology has changed the tone and texture of celebrity. All of us who worked on the film can't wait for audiences to see Kevin's movie, and if we all just so happen to get more famous because of "$ellebrity," well, then we'll just have to live with that too. Here then is my soon to be famous playlist for "$ellebrity" -- which I may use to entertain at our after-party hosted by Sheryl Crow in Austin this weekend. As always, please add your own songs about fame below.

"Fame" - David Bowie
"Picture" - Kid Rock with Sheryl Crow
"Paparazzi" - Lady Gaga
"Celebrity" - Brad Paisley
"Everybody Is A Star" - Sly & The Family Stone
"The Camera Never Lies" - Elton John

"Piece of Me" - Britney Spears
"My Life Your Entertainment" - T.I. featuring Usher
"Rumors" - Jason Ritter
"Tabloid Junkie" - Michael Jackson

"Mo Money, Mo Problems" - The Notorious B.I.G.
"Famous" - Big Time Rush

An all-star tribute to Johnny Cash just got even more star power. Organizers of the upcoming "We Walk The Line: A Celebration of the Music of Johnny Cash" concert confirm exclusively with The Boot that Willie Nelson and Sheryl Crow will join the lineup for the April 20 show in Austin, Texas.

The Redheaded Stranger and the country-rock powerhouse join previously-announced performers Kenny Chesney, Kris Kristofferson, Lucinda Williams, Shooter Jennings, Ray LaMontagne, Jamey Johnson, Chris Cornell, John Hiatt, Ronnie Dunn, Carolina Chocolate Drops and Amy Lee. The concert celebrating the life and legend of the Man in Black will take place at the Austin City Limits Live venue's Moody Theatre, with tickets already on sale here or by calling 877-4-FLYTIX.

Each artist on the concert lineup will be backed by a band lead by famed producer and musician Don Was. Americana legend Buddy Miller is also included in the house band, along with Kenny Aronoff, Ian McLagen and Greg Leisz. Don Was, who worked with Johnny, Willie and Kris Kristofferson on an album for the Highwaymen, will also serve as musical director.

"Having had the privilege of working with Johnny Cash on a Highwaymen project in 1995, I was able to experience firsthand the incredible spirit and musical gift that lived within Johnny," says Was. "We have an all-star line-up of incredible talent performing the songs that made Johnny a legend including fellow Highwaymen Kris and Willie. It will be an incredible evening of music of special combinations, duets and jams."

Part of the ticket proceeds from the Austin show will be donated to Charley's Fund, which helps in the fight against the fatal children's disease, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Sheryl will be at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas on March 11th for the premiere of "$ellebrity", the new documentary directed by Kevin Mazur (aka Mr. Mazurka!).

Sheryl Crow, the 1990s singer who will play Musikfest’s headline Steel Stage on Aug. 10, has matched the swift first-week ticket sales of 1970s rockers Boston, meaning both already have sold half the 7,200 tickets to their shows.

But I have a couple of suggestions for other shows Musikfest should book.

As of this morning, according to ArtsQuest’s ticket sales page at, Crow has just 3,434 of her tickets left, a week after her they went on sale to the public at $30 and $40.

That’s about where 1970s band Boston was a week after its tickets went on sale. In the past week, it has sold about 300 more, meaning it has a little more than 3,100 tickets left to its closing-night Aug. 12 show.

Both acts have sold out the front sections of their general admission. Boston has just 53 of its $168 VIP tickets left, while Crow has 133 of her $168 VIP tickets left. That means both of Musikfest’s first two announced shows already have sold more than two of last year’s shows.

But let me make some suggestions for shows that Musikfest should pursue the remaining eight headline shows for its Aug. 3-12 run this year.

When the festival announced Crow on Feb. 23, I predicted it would be announcing radio-friendly rockers Daughtry.

I want to make the case that I still think that’s a good show for the festival. Daughtry has sold nearly 6 million copies of its first three albums and its latest, “Break the Spell,” also hit the Top 10. It has a good number of hits – “It’s Not Over,” “Home,” “Feels Like Tonight” and “No Surprise” all hit No. 1.

“Break The Spell also had a Top 10 song, “Crawling Back to You.”

Here’s another suggestion: Musikfest did exceptionally well last year with Steely Dan, selling out Steel Stage with the 1970s jazz rockers.

It doesn’t look like Steel Dan will tour this year, but there has been rumblings that Dukes of September, the supergroup formed by Steely Dan’s Donald Fagen, 1970s Doobie Brothers singer Michael McDonald and ‘70s hitmaker Boz Scaggs that toured in 2010, may go back on the road this summer.

Two weeks ago Sheryl did a private show at Maui, Hawaii. She was the entertainer for SAP Winners' Circle annual event at the Wailea Golf Club. Here's a couple of photos taken on 21 February by Marc Bruurmijn:

Pink Lotus Breast Center First in the U.S. to Launch GE's Contrast Enhanced Spectral Mammography

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., March 6, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- The Pink Lotus Breast Center, a comprehensive and integrative breast center exclusively dedicated to the prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, today announced the unveiling of GE Healthcare's Contrast Enhanced Spectral Mammography ("CESM") technology at its flagship breast center in Beverly Hills. CESM will be provided at the facility's Sheryl Crow Imaging Center - the first facility in the country to make this new advancement available to patients.

"We expect CESM to minimize the anxiety-provoking delay between finding something on screening mammography that might be cancer, and giving a woman definitive answers with a plan," says Kristi Funk, M.D., founder of the Pink Lotus Breast Center.

When an inconclusive mammogram and ultrasound require further testing, scheduling and completing the next step - such as MRI - often creates a circuitous and lengthy path that may not even lead to a diagnosis. CESM shortens this path for many patients in several ways: (1) a CESM exam only takes a little longer than a diagnostic mammogram, and uses the same equipment as a routine mammogram, which patients already understand; (2) the CESM technology clearly isolates concerning lesions while hiding non-cancerous tissue, thus eliminating the ambiguity of the initial study; (3) unlike MRI, CESM is not confounded by hormone replacement or menstrual cycles, so CESM can be scheduled immediately with results available within minutes, and (4) compared to MRI, CESM does not cause as much discomfort or claustrophobia, and is four times faster. The exam is simple: after an intravenous injection of contrast dye (similar to MRI), the patient receives a mammogram using CESM technology, which essentially analyzes blood flow patterns within the breast tissue to create a clear picture of normal versus abnormal findings.

"More than ever before, patients who have an inconclusive mammogram can expedite their path to a diagnosis using CESM," says Lori-Beth Sewell, Chief Operating Officer at the Pink Lotus Breast Center. "This further sets us apart from other organizations that are often so departmentally fragmented that the path to diagnosis can last weeks or even longer."

As a fully comprehensive breast center, the Pink Lotus Breast Center prides itself in providing new technological advances like CESM, as well as in offering a wide variety of screening and diagnostic tools that allow patients to be quickly diagnosed, minimizing their anxiety over the unknown. This philosophy is one of several reasons why GE Healthcare selected the Pink Lotus Breast Center to launch its CESM technology, which carries the brand name SenoBright. CESM significantly reduces patient angst by resolving inconclusive findings with a short wait.

Women who receive a CESM exam at the Sheryl Crow Imaging Center have immediate access to a health system that was created and optimized specifically for the treatment of breast diseases. Every woman has a variety of on-site options, including clinical breast exams by fellowship trained and board certified surgeons, diagnostic biopsies, genetic testing, surgery, radiation, nutrition, support groups and additional ancillary services designed to guide each woman through the entire spectrum of her cancer treatment in one single location.
