[OUTRAGEOUS!]

[NEWS] SHERYL CROW CELEBRATING BABY NEWS - WITH HER HORSE

Rocker SHERYL CROW was stunned to discover the horse which helped her through her breast cancer battle a year ago (06) is pregnant, after failing to realise how fat she was getting. The SOAK UP THE SUN singer rode SALLY, the horse she houses at her ranch in Nashville, Tennessee in Los Angeles to cheer herself up during lows in her treatment, and was perplexed when the normally dependable beast started tripping on rides recently. She says, "The woman that was boarding her thought she was just so fat and I kept thinking, 'She doesn't look that fat to me.' And she kept tripping, and this is a very dependable horse. "I kept having vets come out and they all kept saying, 'She looks really fat.' And I kept saying, 'She can't be pregnant because there's not been any stallions around.' "It turns out that I didn't realise that horses have an 11 month gestation period, so she was pregnant. "The way I found out was the baby kicked me, kicked my leg. "The vet came and checked her again and Sally just came over and put her head in my arms, like, 'Thank God, somebody has realised I'm having a baby here.'"

[NEWS] BEAT IT WALLY - A BENEFIT - MUSICIANS FIGHTING CANCER

From the frontpage of Sherylcrow.com:

After more than a little juggling Sheryl was able to clear her calendar in order to be able to attend and play at the live show in Glendale, CA on Jan 31st. The proceeds of the event are to financially help Wally Ingram, prospective cancer survivor, husband and father of one.

It is sure to be a casual and dare I say it, fun, night with luminaries such as Garbage, Jackson Browne, Bonne Raitt- to name just a few....see the rest of them at www.wallyingram.com. This is really a musician initiated event and I am sure it will be a unique experience for all who get to be there.

Sheryl is drafting in Tim Smith and the rumor is that drums and bass will be handled be none other than Wally Ingram (health and strength permitting) and Tad Wadhams- both of course, one-time members of the Sheryl Crow Band.

To recap: It's on Wednesday January 31 at 7:00 PM at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA.

Tickets are on sale now at the Alex Theatre box office, at 818-243-2539 starting at noon each day, and 24/7 at http://www.alextheater.org/events/07_0131.html. Reserved seating tickets are $85 and general admission tickets are $65. There is no service charge for these tickets.

The Alex Theatre is located at 216 North Brand Blvd. in Glendale, CA. The show will start promptly at 7:00 PM, and is produced in association with the Guacamole Fund.

[CHINESE EDU-TAINMENT] ONCE UPON A TIME...

Once upon a time, in the land of Kennett, Missouri, there lived a couple. This was in the days of around late 1961. There were flowers everywhere and people seemed kind and perky. Anyway, this couple decided that "hey! We want another kid." So they prayed to their fairy godmother and their wish came true on February 11th, 1962. "Wow, she's so adorable," said the daddy. "Just imagine, Wendell, in this new day and age, she could be anything she wants to be.... Why, she might be a teacher! Or a singer like Leslie Gore! Or she could be a speaker at that prestigious Dartmouth University," said the mommy. "Maybe it'd be even better if she GOT to GO to a university," said the daddy, "Like the one we have close by in Columbia... you know, the University of Missouri."

The couple named their new daughter Sheryl Suzanne Crow. She had three siblings Kathy, Karen, and Steve. Since Dad played trumpet in swing bands (as well as being a lawyer), and Mom taught piano, it was only natural that Sheryl began piano lessons at the age of 5. Eight years later, she composed her first song. So far, to my knowledge, it's not been released on CD.

In high school, Sheryl did the normal popular girl stuff. She was a cheerleader, among other things. Later, she attended the University of Missouri in Columbia where she majored in Music. At the University, she was part of a band called Cashmere.

After graduating from UM, Sheryl became a teacher at an elementary school in St. Louis where, for two years, she taught music to autistic kids. Which explains her support for the VH1 program, Save the Music. At that time, she was engaged to some guy but it didn't work out. Sadly enough, he was not Prince Charming after all. So Sheryl decided to chuck it all and move to the City of Angels and take a chance. This was around 1986 when big ugly hair was IN.

She worked as a waitress to support herself while searching for music gigs in her free time. The song "It never rains in Southern California" applied to her at this time in her life. But not for too long! She eventually got work singing for several commercial spots. What are you willing to bet that one of those commercials was for McDonalds! When she heard that Michael Jackson was holding auditions for a backup singer for his BAD tour, she jumped to the opportunity and got the job! But for that job, she had to lower her self-esteem and put on some dumb blond wig and ugly duds and heels. Sheryl is a natural beauty and should not have to put on anything to look good. But that was a lucky break for Sheryl, of course. Who wouldn't want to work with Michael Jackson? The BAD tour lasted two freaking years! It was like Michael Jackson was her Prince Charming; only he didn't even know her name or anything and he was kind and freakish and stuff.

[NEWS] TXU COAL PLANT CONTROVERY HITTING HOLLYWOOD

(CBS 11 News) DALLAS The fight against TXU's proposed coal-fired plants in Texas is about to hit Hollywood.

Rock star Sheryl Crow and movie producer Laurie David, who helped work on Al Gore's Oscar nominated documentary "An Inconvenient Truth," are teaming up for a two-week bus tour across North Texas and the Gulf states. The tour is designed to fight global warming and save the environment.

David is the brain child behind the tour. "She's going to play some songs and I'm going to talk about global warming," she said, "and we're really going to try to kick up some dust on this issue on our college campuses."

The tour hopes to stop TXU's controversial plan to build 11 coal-fired power plants across the state of Texas. Governor Rick Perry's plan to fast-track the coal plants has been attacked by environmentalists and a coalition ofcities.

TXU has promised to cut emissions by 20 percent, but David doesn't buy it. "To allow a company, knowing everything we know about this problem, to fast-track and build dirty plants... it's unacceptable. It's immoral," David said. TXU insists that the newly proposed plants, including the one that will be built in Fannin County, are cleaner than the existing ones.

A spokesperson for TXU said, "Unfortunately, coal has gotten a bad reputation over the years. These units will be 80 percent cleaner than any U.S. coal plants. This is state of the art technology we're using."

[AD] AD CAMPAIGN FOR WALL STREET JOURNAL

Media: Trying a New Journey

Newsweek Jan. 29, 2007 issue - "Adventures in Capitalism" was the high-testosterone tag line for The Wall Street Journal's previous ad campaign, in 1997, to promote the brand. The paper was recently made over—taking three inches from the width and adding an emphasis on forward-looking journalism—so it's time to freshen up with a new campaign. "Every journey needs a Journal," says the new tag line, positioning the paper to speak less to readers' inner Striver than their inner Seeker.

The ad blitz begins next week in major publications and Web sites. The ads are essentially celebrity endorsements, highlighting the Journal's role in the inspiring "life journeys" of a diverse mix of people including singer Sheryl Crow, "Freakonomics" coauthor and University of Chicago professor Steven Levitt and Jack Burton, founder of Burton Snowboards.

The Journal wanted people who weren't megafamous but who "had an interesting life journey, read The Wall Street Journal and were successful," Ann Marks, Dow Jones's chief marketing officer, tells NEWSWEEK. One featured personality, boxer Oscar De La Hoya, says he got the call out of the blue. "They asked if I wanted to participate because of my story, my life, how I grew up from humble beginnings," says De La Hoya. "Here I am now, a world champ. That's what the Journal That's the message the paper wants to pound home with a velvet glove.

[NEWS - ITA] SHERYL CROW, ADDIO TUMORE, BENTORNATA MUSICA

11/01/2007 - - Rieccola qui, sexy, longilinea e affascinante come sempre.

Sulla sua malattia, l'autrice di If It Makes You Happy e Run Baby Run dice: "Ti insegna a rivedere tutto, prospettive, legami, programmi, valori.

.

[REVIEW] HOME OF THE BRAVE SOUNDTRACK

It has been quite a few years since Sheryl Crow has had a hit, but “Try Not To Remember” is a track that will easily put eir back into the pop ranks. The track is not as dramatic of a return to pop superstardom as what the Goo Goo Dolls released earlier this year, but compared to the rest of the tracks Sheryl Crow has created, this is near the top. The rest of the soundtrack is done by Stephen Endelman, and mixes the larger corpus of movie soundtracks with military regalia. The result is something that is very fitting for the movie, mixing “Batman” with “Glory”. Obviously, with this being a soundtrack first and a vehicle for pushing Sheryl Crow tracks second, it is not a surprise that the vast majority of tracks are instrumental.
