PLANNED PARENTHOOD

Planned Parenthood is the collective name of organizations worldwide who are members of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). The Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is the U.S. affiliate of IPPF, and one of its larger members. PPFA provides both reproductive health and maternal and child health services. The organization's status as the United States' leading provider of surgical abortions has put it in the forefront of the US national debate over that issue. Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) in the USA is also a vocal political advocate of pro-choice positions, comprehensive sex education, and open expression of sexuality.

Crow's unplugged show refreshingly honest (extract)

Rock 'n' roll and politics have been holding hands for nearly 40 years now, each respecting the other's power to generate a little grass-roots power and influence in the name of justice. Monday night at the Beaumont Club in Westport, singer/songwriter, Missouri native and (as she begrudgingly admitted) former Mizzou sorority sister Sheryl Crow headlined a benefit for Planned Parenthood of Mid-Missouri and Eastern Kansas

Sheryl Crow packs the Beaumont Club Star folk/rock singer Sheryl Crow, a Bootheel native from Kennett, Mo., and a 1984 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, drew a capacity crowd of 800 people to the Beaumont Club in Westport for a performance that netted nearly $70,000 for Planned Parenthood of Mid-Missouri and Eastern Kansas. Near the end of the evening, Crow was invited to select one of 40 denim jackets hand-painted by local artists for an auction.
